UX/Usability Testing
Usability testing of a product or its prototype gives a full view of usability issues by passing each user through a set of predefined tasks. Effectiveness, efficiency and subjective satisfaction are key observable and measurable aspects of each product. Time duration and pauses, difficulties and mistakes, total task completeness and personal satisfaction shows a whole picture of application acceptability and usability. We recommend testing in both cases: before design, when user requirements are not clear and you need to detect all usability issues to redesign a product; and after design, to check whether all usability issues were eliminated or not and what is necessary to do else to improve usability quality of the product. Testing early in the life-cycle is most effective because it reduces development costs.

Eye Tracking
Eye tracking is the method to measure where the user looks at the screen. By checking eye movements we can detect what is the most effective space for searching information, what zones are less mentioned or even “blind” for ordinary users, where they suspend or experience difficulties. We recommend using eye tracking first of all in testing of rich graphical interfaces where the density of information is too high to get risk of visual lost or where people might ignore some information. Eye tracking measurements are conducted with special equipment and the results are often presented as a “temperature map” with hot problem zones. This method is alike general usability testing and can be perfectly supplement it’s results in details.
